Choir at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church traditional service

The Chancel Choir leads music for the 8:30 AM Traditional Service. Their repertoire ranges from classic works by renowned composers to contemporary choral pieces. Membership is open to anyone in high school or older. The choir is typically accompanied by piano or organ and occasionally by other instruments. Rehearsals are held every Thursday from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in the choir loft, with warm-ups on Sundays at 8:00 AM in the music room. Auditioned choral scholars join the choir, which takes a summer break from June to August. For more details, please reach out to the Music Director.

The Handbell Choir performs using the church’s five-octave Schulmerich handbells and three-octave Malmark handchimes. Rehearsals take place every Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:00 PM in the choir loft. Participants should have some bell ringing experience and preferably be able to read music. The group typically performs twice a month and at special services between mid-September and mid-May. Seasonal and “snowbird” members are welcome to join for shorter periods. Interested individuals should contact the Music Director in advance to discuss their availability.

Contemporary Service

The Praise Team plays a vital role in leading worship during the 10:30 AM service. This group of dedicated singers and musicians brings vibrant music to the congregation, combining traditional hymns with contemporary Christian Praise & Worship songs often heard on Christian radio stations. Their music is designed to help guide the congregation toward a closer relationship with God.

The distinctive sound of this service comes from a blend of instruments, including guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, drums, and percussion. The team encourages soloists to contribute to the worship experience. A love for worship and music is all that is needed to participate, to needed to audition.

Rehearsals are held every Wednesday from 6:15 PM to 8:00 PM in the sanctuary. This regular practice time allows the team to prepare for their role in Sunday services. For those interested in joining or learning more, please contact the Praise Team Director.
